Abstract
Abstract: How do heterogeneous actors in R&D-projects organise their cooperation? Which success factors are important? On the basis of a three-year's empirical qualitative investigation of three R&D-projects those questions are answered in this paper. Since 1992 the German Research Ministry funded three different R&D-projects in the field of micro-system technology in its Innovation Support Programs. In the projects under study a changing group of heterogeneous actors from different institutional and organisational backgrounds such as large enterprises, SMEs, universities and Fraunhofer-institutes cooperated under the coordination of one private R&D-department. The development and realisation of common project demonstrators and the cooperation culture, which finally emerged from these projects, can be called the rise of a new 'practice of knowledge'. This practice of knowledge originates from the connection and transformation of the partner's different disciplinarian and organisational working methods and knowledge stocks.;
