Abstract

Abstract: Since the year 2000, the so called dortmund-project - a ten-year project initiative concerned with regional development - is following the aims of creating 70,000 new jobs and of redeveloping the old industrial areas in Dortmund, a city inthe Ruhr area (Germany). As a rule official statements for example of the Dortmund office for the promotion of trade and industry entail the story, that this task force was initiated by the Thyssen-Krupp AG, the local government and the management consultancy McKinsey & Co in good co-operation to transform the "Old Dortmund" to the "New and fast Dortmund". Using a practice-orientated approach concept this paper gives an answer to the question respecting the acceptability of the official labelling of the dortmund-project as a public private partnership.;
